I'm looking for some advice after being asked to investigate a backup/replacement for a current PC running DairyPlan C21, version 5.2 I believe, connected to a Metatron 12 milking system. The current PC is old and is showing signs of possible failure due to where it has been kept over the years! The current interface between the PC and the system is via a D Sub 37 pin serial cable which connects to two PCI cards within the PC. Has anyone encountered this issue and found a more economical way to change over to a modern PC?Any help appreciated. What we weren't told was the cost of these interface cables! They are £146 each.I'm wondering if there is another supplier for these cables but I suspect not as it looks like a specially made interface for this system. The local GEA supplier has provided one cable so far but ultimately two will be needed. I suggested it would be better and easier to have a backup PC if the interface was serial to USB.
